Why shouldn’t I install a real bent grass putting green?

Any golf course superintendent will tell you that it takes a significant amount of effort, time and money to construct and maintain a natural bent grass putting green.

How much does a short game green cost?

Our Greens are comparable in price to many other backyard amenities. For Example, hot tub, patio, etc… Precision Greens do not have any maintenance costs. Although the overall price of the Green depends on many site-specific factors, you can estimate a price of $15 to $17 per square foot. The larger the Green, the lower the price per square foot. Other factors that will influence the price include the accessibility to our heavy equipment, the need for significant grading and the addition of retaining walls or other landscaping. A synthetic turf putting green from Precision Greens can be added to the cost basis of your home for capital gains tax purposes.

Are there any contour limitations?

No. The base preparation is the key to achieving contouring that is both realistic and challenging. The weight of the Infill Material of 4 Lbs. Per square foot, anchors the turf firmly in place, permitting the contour to be sloped at any angle. Note that smaller greens can only have modest contours or they would fail to provide a realistic practice environment.

How does water drain off the green?

Most of the water will be absorbed by the sand fill in the turf. The rest of the water will run off the green.

Can snow, ice, wind, or intense heat harm the green?

Precision Greens are durable and weather resistant in any climate. Our fibers are UV protected letting our turf stand strong for years’ to come.

Will a Precision Green wear out?

Since most of the wear is on the sand, these greens will last virtually forever.

Can a Precision Green be installed indoors?

Yes. We recommend the use of our specialized “Indoor Turf”. This turf rolls a little slower so you can hit stronger putts in a smaller area.
