18 Hole “Nature Theme” Miniature Golf

Why install a Mini Golf?

Perhaps firstly I should mention the potential joy it can bring to a community, family and also to an individual. The excitement it fosters is above all the most important reason to bring mini golf into a community. As an owner/operator of a mini golf you now act as a liaison of joy and happiness.
The profit potential is enormous. Start up costs’ are low in comparison to most businesses, there are very little maintenance costs involved, very little staff is required and all that s left is the attention to detail on behalf of the owner/operator. Many miniature golf owners have paid off the cost of construction within the first year of operation. The baby boomers are retiring and the ‘Tiger Era’ is among us, the game enjoys increasing popularity by all demographics.

What are Precision Greens’ thoughts on this project?

We are fortunate to be able to call this work. From standing in a hail storm to plot out the courses design to endless hours using the heavy machines, right through to when the fence went up around it, this project was incredibly enjoyable. One of the biggest contributing factors to the overall success of this project was the cooperation of the Manager (the man who made this all happen), Ernie George. He gave us the freedom to change things as we went along, as we felt they were needed. He put a lot of trust in our judgment throughout the entire project. The project went past the scheduled date of completion because of bad weather but we felt no pressure from Ernie. This allowed us to still have fun and remain creative without the pressure of a deadline. We were, however, very conscious of the fact that they were depending on revenue from the mini golf in the last few weeks of the summer and we made a big effort to be as efficient as possible.
Overall, the size of the holes and the landscape around them are all congruent with the land we had available. The course is a nice balance of size, shape and flow and the natural theme was low cost and compliments the surrounding environment. There is challenge, strategy and fairness in every hole at TAKaya.
The best part was after completion of the mini golf course we worked on the putting green and we were able to observe people playing. The constant roaring cheers and comical body language was enough to us know we were successful.
With the nearest competition just blocks away, it took great courage for Ernie, TAKaya Golf Center and Chief and Council of the Burrard Band to come to the decision to implement a mini golf course at their facility. The decision was made easier by knowing that most of the operating costs’ already exist and that the mini golf would not only pay for itself eventually but for the two practice greens as well. The mini golf course looks like it belongs there; a fixed part of the TAKaya environment.
